The borough of Sellersville, which is situated in Bucks County in the state of Pennsylvania, is home to many families and there is always something going on throughout the year in the town and surrounding areas. The local firehouse provides various activities throughout the year, including one of the highlights in the town’s annual calendar, a carnival that is held every summer while the Holiday House Pool and Recreation Center has become a hotspot for people to escape the heat and holds regular events and activities to help local residents stay cool during the warmer months of the year. There are also a variety of festivals and live music events taking place in the surrounding areas, particularly in the Lehigh Valley area during the summer season.
Music lovers in particular will enjoy the annual Musikfest that is held in the town of Bethlehem just a short drive from Sellersville, which is a 10 day live music event that has taken place every year since 1986, beginning on the first Friday in August. This festival also pays homage to the area’s local German roots which are the foundation for this celebration and many of its venues use platz (place) at the end of them including the large “Festplatz” area, which is a popular place to eat while listening to music with around 300 dining tables and a traditional polka band performing nightly. Visitors to this festival can enjoy hundreds of free shows over the course of the event including performances by nationally-known recording artists on the festivals premium stage however these concerts will require paid tickets to gain admission. Some of the headline acts that have performed on the festival’s Steel Stage in the past include Air Supply, Adam Lambert, Alice Cooper, The Beach Boys, Tony Bennett, Boyz II Men, Carrie Underwood, Ray Charles, George Clinton, Dixie Chicks, B.B. King, Duran Duran, Earth, Wind & Fire, Hootie & the Blowfish, Kool & The Gang, Don McLean, Martina McBride, Steve Miller Band, Live, REO Speedwagon and Maroon 5.
The Mayfair Festival of the Arts is a diverse festival that includes visual arts, performing arts, culinary arts, garden arts, children’s art center and art education which has been held annually in Allentown on Memorial Day weekend since 1986. Around 50,000 people attend this festival every year to buy art, enjoy food and listen to music plus it is ideal for a family day out due to the abundance of hands-on children’s art activities on offer. The Great Allentown Fair has been held on the town’s Fairground areas in late August through to early September for more than 150 year and this continues to attract visitors from all over the state every year. The Das Awkscht Fescht is an antique car festival that is held annually at the start of August in Macungie’s Memorial Park while September sees The Celtic Classic held in Bethlehem and this has become one of the largest Celtic heritage festivals of its kind in the country.
